WALIBI BELGIUM

Walibi Belgium (à l'origine Walibi Wavre) est un parc d'attractions inauguré le 20 juillet 1975 par Eddy Meeus. Le parc est à l'origine du groupe Walibi, entreprise rachetée par CDA Parks (propriétaire du Parc Astérix).

Le nom de Walibi vient des villes qui entourent le parc. Wavre, Limal et Bierges.

Le parc comprend aussi un parc aquatique : Aqualibi.

Histoire du parc :

En 1998 Walibi fut racheté par Six Flags, un des plus grands groupes de parcs d'attractions. Le parc fut rénové et reçut beaucoup de nouvelles attractions, notamment le Vampire, Dalton Terror Tower, Loup Garou, Cobra et Challenge of Tutankhamoun. En 2001 le parc changa son nom en Six Flags Belgium.

La rentabilité fut cependant considérée comme insuffisante par Six Flags, et le parc fut revendu en 2004 à Star Parks, une filiale du fond Palamon, qui renomma le parc Walibi Belgium en 2005.

Depuis 2006, la parc appartient à Grévin & Cie renommé peu de temps après CDA Parks, une filiale de la Compagnie des Alpes.

Accident : - En 1997, le "Sirocco" (premier nom de Turbine) a été victime d'un accident assez rare: le train est resté coincé en haut du looping pendant près de 2 heures. En cause un élément de la propulsion qui avait cassé. Plusieurs personnes avaient dû être hospitalisées suite à la position 'à l'envers' durant ces 2 heures. Les pompiers ont dû recourir à plusieurs vérins hydrauliques pour débloquer l'attraction.

Turbine a été couvert en grande partie (la gare, la ligne droite et le Vertical Loop) en 1998, les riverains s'étant plaint du bruit incessant de l'attraction. Désormais, ce sont les seules montagnes russes navette de ce type couvertes au monde.

Historique: The loop was enclosed for the 1999 season to reduce noise.
There are some discrepancies with the Sirocco's opening year. Some say 1981 while others say 1982. It seems the ride was built in 1981 and intended to be sold to a park in Japan or China that year. That order was canceled and the ride was then sold to Walibi who installed in for the 1982 season.

Historique: The Vertigo was intended to be a new attraction for the 2006 season. Technical problems prevented it from opening to the public until June 14th, 2007. It operated for just a short time and technical problems forced it to close for the remainder of the season. During the 2007/2008 off-season, the track was taken down and reworked by the manufacturer. On May 8th, 2008 the Vertigo had its official opening with lots of media and an appearance by Jean-Claude Van Damme. Unfortunately, more technical problems were encountered and on May 19th, 2008 the ride was closed once again.

Historique:
After standing but not operating for three seasons, the Tornado was torn down and cut apart for scrap metal. Walibi Belgium had tried to sell the ride, but clearly this was not successful.
Of historical significance, this may be the first Vekoma roller coaster to be scrapped. Two unknowns keep this from being fact:
1. the Chaos that formerly operated at Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee. After Opryland closed, the ride was relocated to the former site of Old Indiana Fun Park in Thorntown, Indiana. In July 2002 Six Flags sold the Old Indiana property and many of the rides were scrapped, but not the Chaos. As of 7/27/2003, the Chaos remained on site. Presumably, Six Flags made a deal with the buyer to keep it there until they had another home for it. Whether or not the Chaos remains there as of this writing and the scrapping of the Tornado isn't known.
2. the Londonderry Express that operated at Lotte World in Seoul, South Korea. It has not been seen since being removed from the park in 2002. Rumors say it was sold by a Korean ride broker to a client in the Middle East and there it remains in storage. If this is still the situation, isn't known at this time.

Mon Opinion du parc :

J'adore ce parc !
Walibi Belgium est mon parc favori !
Au niveau sensations, on est très bien servit avec le Cobra et le Vampire !
Pareil pour les inversions !

Mon coaster préféré de ce parc est Cobra pour ses sensations extrêmes ( 5.2 G ) et nouvelles puisque le train fait également le circuit à l'envers .

Un conseil : Pour le Vampire, calez bien votre tête, sinon, on se reçoit des baffes !

Globalement, Walibi Belgium est un excellent parc qui réjouira tout les fans de sensations fortes !
